Once you have created Bill of Materials (BoMs), you may need to update them as your production processes change, or you may want to quickly set up similar products.
Location: Navigate to Inventory β Bill of Materials.
1. Editing a BoM
To change the raw materials, lead times, or warehouse for a product variant:
Find the product variant in the list.
Click the three-dot menu (...) on the right side of the row.
Select Edit.
The setup flow will open with your current data pre-filled. Make your changes and click Confirm.
2. Duplicating a BoM (Time Saver)
If you are setting up variants that are very similar (e.g., Red T-Shirt Medium and Red T-Shirt Large), you don't need to start from scratch.
Click the three-dot menu (...) on an existing BoM.
Select Duplicate BoM.
Choose the Target Variant (the new product variant you want to apply this recipe to).
The system copies all raw materials and settings. You can edit each input field or review and confirm immediately.
3. Deleting a BoM
If you no longer manufacture a product:
Select Delete from the menu.
Result: The BoM is removed, and the product variant loses its "Manufacturable" status. Tightly will treat it as a regular purchasable product again.
4. Troubleshooting: Why can't I Edit or Delete?
You might notice that the Edit and Delete buttons are greyed out (disabled) for certain products.
The Rule: You cannot modify a Bill of Materials if there are Active Manufacturing Orders for that product.
Active = Draft, Confirmed, or In Production.
Inactive = Completed or Cancelled.
Why? If you change the "recipe" while an order is being built, it would corrupt the data for that order (e.g., changing required materials halfway through production).
Solution: To edit the BoM, you must first either Complete or Cancel all open orders for that specific variant.
