Demand Planning in Tightly helps you forecast future sales, adjust demand expectations, and ensure your replenishment aligns with real business needs like events, promotions, or seasonal peaks.

By updating your planned demand, you give Tightly the context it needs to recommend the right stock at the right time on the Smart Replenishment page.

1. Accessing Demand Planning

  • Go to Replenishment > Demand Planning from the left menu.

  • You’ll see all products listed in a table with actuals (past sales) and planned demand (future forecasts).

  • Past months → show both planned and actuals (linked to improve forecasting).

  • Current month (e.g., August 2025) → highlighted in purple for easy visibility.

  • Future months → show only planned demand (editable).

2. Editing Planned Demand

You can adjust planned sales for any product directly in the table:

  1. Double-click on the cell under the month/week/day you want to edit.

  2. Enter the new value.

  3. Click the ✅ tick to confirm.

Example: If you’re running an event in October and expect sales to double, update October’s planned demand from 100 → 500 units.

Tightly will consider this new forecast and recommend higher replenishment quantities accordingly. The updated Plan cells will be displayed highlighted with purple.

Lead Time Awareness
If a product has a 1-month lead time and you increase demand for October, Tightly will recommend ordering more in September to ensure stock arrives in time.

👉 Keeping lead times accurate is critical for reliable recommendations.

3. Time Period Views

You can change how you view and edit forecasts using the date picker above the table:

  • ≥ 3 months → Monthly view.

  • < 3 months → Weekly view.

  • < 2 weeks → Daily view.

📝 Tip: To edit daily demand, make sure you select a time period shorter than two weeks.

4. Table Tools & Customization

The Demand Planning table gives you multiple ways to customize and filter data:

  • Filters (right panel):

    • Supplier

    • 30-day sales velocity

    • Modified items (to quickly find what you’ve changed)

    • Shopify tags

  • Search bar (top left):
Search by product name, variant name, ID, SKU, or barcode.

  • Units vs. Revenue (dropdown):

    • Units view → editable, recommended for planning.

    • Revenue view → read-only, calculated automatically (price × units).

  • Table Settings (top bar):

    • Adjust number of rows per page.

    • Show/hide additional columns (e.g., default supplier, Shopify tags).

    • Add comparison metrics like “Last Period” or “Plan Change Over Period.”

  • Download CSV:
Exports the table exactly as you see it (applies your current filters and customizations).

5. How Demand Planning Impacts Replenishment

Updating demand values directly shapes what you’ll see later on the Smart Replenishment tab:

  • Tightly uses your updated planned values instead of forecasts alone.

  • Recommendations adjust automatically to match your sales expectations.

  • This ensures replenishment planning reflects real-world events like promotions, seasonal peaks, or expected slowdowns.
