How do I update the MOQ of a product?

Updated over a week ago

The MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) field determines the minimum number of units you need to order from a supplier for a given product. Tightly allows you to update this value directly from the Inventory page for one or multiple products.

Get better understanding of how MOQ works in Tightly.

Option 1: Editing MOQ for a Single Product

  1. Go to Manage > Inventory from the left-hand menu.

  2. Locate the product or variant you want to edit. Use the search bar or filtering panel if needed.

  3. In the MOQ column, click directly on the value.

  4. Enter the new MOQ and press Enter or click outside the field to save.

The change will apply immediately.

Option 2: Bulk Editing MOQ for Multiple Products

  1. On the Inventory page, use the checkboxes to select the products you want to update.

  2. Click on the Quick Actions bar that appears above the table.

  3. Choose Edit Selected Products.

  4. In the modal, check the MOQ field and enter the new value.

  5. Click Apply Changes to update all selected items.

Tip: Use filters like supplier, category, or tag to narrow down the list before selecting products for bulk edits.

Notes

  • If a variant has no supplier assigned, you cannot update the MOQ value until the supplier is assigned.

  • The MOQ value plays a critical role during purchase order creation:

    • When variants in your Basket have an MOQ defined, Tightly will check whether the selected quantity meets that MOQ.

    • If not, you’ll be shown a warning before confirming the order, with a one-click option to apply the recommended quantity.

  1. MOQ is also used to group and size products appropriately when generating POs from the Basket.

If you also provide a Batch Size, Tightly will ensure the quantity is a multiple of that batch size during PO creation.

  • This gives you full control to ensure purchase orders align with supplier expectations.

  • Not meeting the batch size will trigger a warning with a one-click fix option during PO confirmation.
